Following the unexpectedly tragic - and unfortunely one-way - mission of Ioiri the goblin to Selene, the Mountain and the greatest minds in  The Empyraeum were bent to a single aim; getting somebody to AND back from Selene alive.

It was Leonidas tou Vinctas who asked the question that led to the invention of what would become the Reflex Field and, though he never lived to see its invention, he did pioneer the experiments determining mithril's thixotropic nature.

The Skylak II got the protection of his discoveries and, once the Sphynx device was decoded on Selene, some clever Dwarf worked out how to combine those discoveries with the new reflex field.

The result was Erebus Aegis, also called Scout Armour, for it was light and, as the first suit of powered armour, allowed for agility Kalshodar could not previously dream of.

Now that goblins had gotten their grubby little hands on green prints from the Sphynx, the mechanisms within the first reflex armour became smaller and more complex.

Kalshodar were no longer lumbering giants, they were a force of nature, faster than a human eye could follow. They were kaos embodied in battle.

We are the sons of kaos! they said, when first training with this new pattern. Erebus.
